An Art Deco stepped globe-type lampshade / light shade, c.1930s, suitable for use with a table lamp or ceiling / pendant fitting, in white opal glass (with shiny surface to exterior) with a small floral transfer to the centre and a thin gilt band along one edge, complete with the original white plastic / Bakelite 3 1/2 inch gallery (shade holder). The shade measures approximately 13.8cm (5.45in) in diameter and 15.7cm (6.2in) in height including gallery, with the opening measuring approximately 8.2cm (3.25in) in external diameter, whilst the gallery measures approximately 9.5cm (3.75in) in diameter, with the lampholder hole measuring approximately 2.9cm (1.15in) in diameter (suitable for a standard UK BC lampholder); if preferred, reproduction galleries in brass or chrome are available from specialist suppliers. There is some age wear to the shade including some surface scratches, wear to the gilt, slight wear to the transfer and slight marks to the interior, whilst there is some discoloration and marking to the gallery with some surface rust to the bolts; there is a shallow chip (about 0.6 x 0.6cm / 0.25 x 0.25in) together with some smaller chips, nibbles, roughness and marks to the edge of the opening (which is of course hidden by the gallery when the shade is in use); there are some minor manufacturing imperfections to the surface of the glass.
