A c.1930s chromed metal frame for an Art Deco hanging ceiling light, for use with the popular glass "shell" light shades. The frame, which measures approximately 26.4cm (10.4in) between the tips of the arms, with a central boss measuring approximately 9.7cm (3.8in) in diameter, is suitable for use with the most common variety of shell shade (the type that measure (in a straight line) approximately 25.8cm / 10.15in across at their widest and 20.9cm / 8.25in from top to bottom at the centre, and are marked "REG. No. 863,667" in relief to the inside base). It is complete with all clips, nuts and bolts and fixings; there are also three hanging chains, which the buyer will probably wish to replace, as (a) they are somewhat rusty, and (b) one does not match the others. There is considerable rusting, pitting, peeling and general wear to the chromed finish, together with some rust to the hidden areas; the frame will therefore require rechroming or refinishing, and as such would present an ideal opportunity for custom finishing in a non-standard colour without spoiling a pristine example.
