An Art Deco globe-type lampshade / light shade, c.1930s, suitable for use with a table lamp or ceiling / pendant fitting, in white opal glass (moulded in two layers, with shiny surface to exterior) with a small floral transfer to the centre and a thin silver-gilt band around the top edge. The shade measures approximately 13.4cm (5.3in) in height and 13.5cm (5.3in) in diameter at its widest; the opening measures approximately 8.3cm (3.25in) in external diameter, and thus the shade would fit a 3 1/2 inch shade holder or gallery (not included, but reproductions in brass or chrome are available from specialist suppliers). There are numerous small brown spot marks to the interior of the shade; there is some age wear including scratching and abrasion to the surface, wear to the silver-gilt band, and wear and discoloration to the transfer, whilst there are several small chips and nibbles together with some roughness to the edge of the opening (which would be hidden by the gallery when the shade is in use); there is some unevenness, dating from manufacture, to the surface of the glass. (We have another shade of similar style, but with a larger transfer and no band, for sale separately - please see link below.)
