A c.1930s vintage Art Deco hanging bowl (or "flycatcher") lampshade / light shade, in shiny beige flakestone glass (which appears pinkish in certain lighting conditions) with brown marbling, with a white opal layer to the interior, measuring approximately 29cm (11.4in) in diameter and 14cm (5.5in) deep excluding hooks. This shade is supplied with its original hooks and chains (each about 34cm / 13.4in long), together with a modern brass ceiling plate hook with earth terminal; the chains and hooks have some original chrome plating but are very rusty and worn with some paint marks, and the ceiling plate hook is tarnished and has in part been roughly overpainted with white emulsion. (If required, reproduction hooks and chains, and triple ceiling plate hooks, are available from specialist suppliers; alternatively, suitable chains can be found in any good ironmonger's shop or DIY store.) The shade itself has some age wear including scratching and abrasion to the surface with some tiny paint specks and other slight marks, together with some nibbling and slight roughness to the rim; there are some manufacturing imperfections in the glass including lines and air bubbles, together with some tiny black specks to the opal layer.
