An original c.1930s Art Deco chrome table lamp, with chunky hexagonal base and sturdy hexagonal stem with diamond-shaped chrome plaque bolted to one side, supplied with a pale pink opal glass hexagonal globe-type shade of the same vintage (not original to this particular lamp, but matching its shape perfectly) with a reproduction chrome gallery (shade holder). The lamp measures approximately 48cm (18.9in) in height including shade, 33.3cm (13.1in) in height without shade, and 10.2cm (4in) across at the base (max), whilst the shade measures approximately 16cm (6.3in) in height and 15.4cm (6.05in) across (max). The lamp has been newly rewired, with new flex (approximately 2.7m / 8.8ft long), earthed switched chrome BC lampholder and UK plug. There is some age wear to the lamp including light pitting to most of the surface and slight peeling to the chrome to the inner edge of the diamond plaque, together with some scratches, scuffs, marks, nicks and minor dents / dings; the stem leans backwards slightly when the lamp is placed upon a flat surface (see second photo). The shade, meanwhile, has some slight marks, scratches and the odd patch of abrasion together with a tiny nibble to the central point of the top, a small chip together with some roughness and slight nibbling to the edge of the opening (which is of course hidden when the shade is in use), and some manufacturing imperfections in the glass including unevenness to the surface, line marks, pockmarks and tiny air bubbles. Please note that, since this is a vintage lamp, it is unlikely to conform to current regulations, and it is therefore sold as a decorative item only. We therefore recommend that this lamp is tested by a qualified electrician prior to use.
