An Art Deco / Modernist swan-neck desk lamp (without shade), c.1930s-50s, in cream-painted metal with chrome neck and trim, measuring approximately 26cm (10.25in) in height and 14cm (5.5in) in diameter at the base. The lamp has been newly rewired, with new flex (approximately 2.6m / 8.5ft long), push switch and UK plug; the original BC brass lampholder remains in good working order. The neck of the lamp swivels 360 degrees, and the lampholder can be adjusted within a range of 90 degrees (there is a holding screw); there is a pair of hanging holes in the base, by which the lamp can be wall-mounted. Unusually, the switch is concealed within the base, together with a spring, so that the base itself (apart from the edges) acts as the switch. There is some wear and slight loss to the painted finish, especially to the base where there is some rust spotting, together with slight to moderate wear to the chrome; the original flex outlet grommet still encircles the flex but has broken away from the inside of the lamp.
Please note that, since this is a vintage lamp, it is unlikely to conform to current regulations, and it is therefore sold as a decorative item only. We therefore recommend that this lamp is tested by a qualified electrician prior to use.
