An Arcadian crested china egg cup with "Torquay" crest and gilt rim, late 19th or early 20th century, measuring approximately 6cm (2.35in) in height and 4.6cm (1.8in) in diameter at the top; the base is marked with the black printed "A & S / STOKE-ON-TRENT / ARCADIAN" stamp together with a small black painted mark. There is some age wear including slight scratching and marking to the surface and slight wear to the gilt, whilst there is some fine crazing to the base and foot; there are some rough patches to the rim which may date from manufacture, together with a small nibble which clearly dates from manufacture as it is partly gilded over; there are some imperfections to the transfer printing of the crest (which is faint and patchy in parts), together with some tiny spot marks in the glaze.
