An early to mid-19th century pottery child's plate (nursery ware), measuring approximately 15.2cm (6in) in diameter and 2cm (0.8in) deep, moulded with a pattern of roses, in off-white glaze with a variable bluish tinge, and decorated with a hand-coloured transfer illustration entitled "THE FISHERMANS C[HI]LDREN". There is a hairline crack approximately 4cm long (visible on both sides), together with some scratching and age wear, and crazing throughout; there are various manufacturing imperfections to the moulding, glaze and decoration (including two letters missing from the title).
