A mid-19th century antique engraving of Salisbury Cathedral (Wiltshire, England), by J. S. & Co. (No. 1739), c.1850, perhaps taken from a book, hand-coloured (perhaps at a later date) and mounted in a relatively modern black and gilt wooden frame with bevelled card mount and hanging wire; the exposed area of the engraving measures approximately 12.9 x 10.3cm (5.1 x 4.05in), whilst the frame measures approximately 27 x 24.9cm (10.65 x 9.8in).
There is some discoloration and marking to the engraving, together with moderate wear commensurate with its age; there is some discoloration and marking to the mount, and there are some specks of dirt between it and the inside of the glass; there is some age wear to the frame including scratching, marking and slight chipping, together with scratching to the glass, rust to the pins and the eyes which hold the hanging wire, and tarnish to the wire itself.
