Alfred Meakin pottery jug with farmyard design, c.1950s

A c.1950s vintage Alfred Meakin pottery jug, measuring approximately 12cm (4.7in) in height and 13.2cm (5.2in) across at the top (including handle and pouring lip), in pale cream glaze with gilt trim, a large colour transfer of a farmyard scene (very typical of its era in style and colour) to the front and a smaller transfer in the same style to the back; there is a blue-green printed "ALFRED MEAKIN / ENGLAND" crown stamp to the base together with three short gilt dashes.  There is some age wear including numerous scratches and some abrasion and marking to the surface, wear to the gilt, moderate wear / imperfections to the transfers, and marking to the foot; there are some minor manufacturing imperfections including tiny spot marks in the glaze.
