A souvenir china ornamental basket, c.1900-20, in white glaze with a colour transfer view with the words "A PRESENT FROM BRIGHTON. / METROPOLE AND GRAND HOTELS / BRIGHTON" together with gilt ornamentation to one side. The basket, which measures approximately 8.5cm (3.35in) in height, 14cm (5.5in) across including handles, and 4.9cm (1.95in) deep (max), bears a round black printed "FOREIGN" stamp to the base. There is some age wear including slight scratching and abrasion to the surface, moderate wear to the gilt and some wear / imperfections to the transfer, whilst there is some marking to the foot and to the lower interior (which are unglazed); there are various irregularities in the moulding, together with minor imperfections in the glaze including a pinhole to the top of one handle and some small bumps.
