"A Present for Father" large white china cup and saucer with gilt lettering and trim, c.1900-14

A large white china cup and saucer, probably dating from c.1900-14, with the words "A Present for Father" in Gothic-style gilt lettering, together with gilt trim.  The cup measures approximately 9.9cm (3.9in) in diameter at the rim and 9cm (3.55in) in height, whilst the saucer measures approximately 16.75cm (6.6in) in diameter and 3cm (1.2in) deep.  Both have a red printed "MADE IN GERMANY" mark to the base, whilst the cup also has a printed number "70" and an incised code underneath the glaze.  There is some wear to the gilt, together with some scratching (especially to the saucer), a few small spot marks and manufacturing irregularities.  Large enough to fill with sweets or chocolate for an ideal present!
