A 1960s "National 6-Transistor Portable T-51" radio, by the Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd, Japan, in its original box with instruction leaflet, detachable telescopic aerial, additional wire aerial and earpiece (not tested) in leather pouch with detachable leather strap. The radio (which measures approximately 14.75 x 8.5 x 4cm), in a plastic cabinet with metal grille and typical of its era in style, seems to have been destined for the American market, having only one waveband (LW). It still works well (with four AA batteries, not included), and the case is outwardly in good condition, with only very slight wear apart from the slot in the base into which a coin is inserted to remove the back. There is some corrosion to the contacts in the detachable battery holder, and there is some marking to the interior (which would benefit from a little cleaning). The telescopic aerial is in good condition with a few very small corrosion marks; the leather accessories are generally good with slight wear / creasing. The box (approximately 20.5 x 17.75 x 5.75cm), however, has damp and mould damage in places (see photos) and has general age wear (including tearing to corners and inserts) and discoloration; the leaflet has likewise been affected by damp in parts, with slight tearing to those parts, and age wear throughout.
